  15. The procedure to use the Windows NT Emergency Repair Disk on a
  16. RISC-based computer is different from the procedure on an x86-based
  17. computer. On an x86-based system, the repair utility is run by booting
  18. from a startup disk that was created during the installation of
  19. Windows NT. On a RISC-based computer, no startup disk is created, as
  20. the RISC-based computers do not automatically start from a floppy
  21. disk.

  23. Use the following procedure to use the Emergency Repair Disk on a
  24. RISC-based computer:
  25.  
  26. 1. Insert the Windows NT CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
  27.  
  28. 2. Start your computer.
  29.  
  30. 3. From the list of choices on the firmware menu, select Run A
  31.    Program.
  32.  
  33. 4. When you are prompted for the program to run, type the following
  34.    and press ENTER:
  35.  
  36.       CD:\MIPS\SETUPLDR
  37.  
  38. 5. When the setup screen appears, type "R" (without the quotation
  39.    marks) to run the repair utility.
  40.  
  41. 6. Insert the repair disk into drive A as prompted and continue to
  42.    follow the instructions on the screen.
